🌸 Aunty Day

Auntie Day’s Journey into Herbal Medicine

Aunty Day’s path into herbal medicine is deeply rooted in her Hawaiian, Chinese, and Chamorro heritage, as well as her upbringing in the islands. From a young age, she showed a natural love for the land and its gifts. As a recipient of the Future Farmer program during her 10th, 11th, and 12th grades, and an active member of her school’s hiking club, she cultivated both practical farming skills and a lifelong connection to nature.

Originally inspired to enter the medical field, Aunty Day chose instead to honor her roots and follow the healing traditions of plant-based medicine. She has devoted herself to learning how the natural, divinely provided remedies of the earth can support health and well-being. Over the years, she has continuously expanded her education, and in the past two years has immersed herself in advanced professional herbalist training, including studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and modern herbalist practices.

Despite her deep knowledge, Aunty Day embraces what she calls a “destination-free journey” — the understanding that herbalism is not about a final mastery but a lifelong exploration. Each lesson, each plant, and each formulation adds new layers of wisdom. Her love for wildlife, plants, and people inspires her daily work of cultivating local herbal medicines, teaching classes, and exploring the vital relationship between plants, their constituents, and humanity.

Aunty Day’s mission goes beyond her own practice. She seeks to share this knowledge with her community, helping others learn how to grow, gather, prepare, and apply herbal remedies as naturally as one might share a favorite recipe. Her vision is to see herbalism introduced early in education and carried through life so that generations can build a culture of health independence, sustainability, and care for one another.

Through her unique blend of Hawaiian wisdom, Chinese tradition, and Chamorro resilience, Aunty Day is weaving a future where herbal remedies and community healing are central to daily life in the islands and beyond.
